Realtors, everyone, your boss, colleagues, your mentor, are all shouting at you with marketing advice:

“Here’s what you really need to be doing, to boost your business...”
“To attract new prospects and generate more leads you must do much more of this...”
“Build your brand! YOUR BRAND!”

So today, I thought I would give you a break from all that noise...


We are going to talk about the important things that you should make sure you are NOT DOING when you market your Local Real Estate Consulting business.


These marketing mistakes could be costing you clients!


A few minor adjustments to how you approach promoting your Local Realty Services may be all you need to up the quality of the leads you are already getting. Let’s dig in and start boosting the amount of leads your online marketing work and ad campaigns produce.


After all, if you are taking the time to post, publish or pay for an ad, you want it done right, so it accomplishes your goals that you set for it.


Create Relevant Online Content!

You are posting loads of engaging content; videos, articles, blog posts, social posts, so be sure you are being consistent. Stay on track for achieving your goals. Wherever you display your online works be organized and stay focused on your overall strategy and results.


Do not dilute the impact of your main messaging and goal by being all over the map with your topics.

Surprise Your Readers and Viewers!

“Be original, show off your style, and tell your story. Deliver unique Information, tips and less covered news.”
  • Articles, especially on display on your website, have to attract prospects who might someday hire you!

  • Social media posts should be making social media audiences more curious about who you are, so a few venture to your website to learn more.

  • Your blog posts should be shareable. Blog posts should be getting Search Engine audiences too.

  • Are your e-mails getting past the spam filters? Have you designed your email subjects so that people want to open and read them?

  • Are people liking and praising your “sales pitch” videos?

  • You have work to do!


Mistakes Realtors Make When Marketing:


1. Not always having a specific motive or agenda that you are trying to achieve with your marketing piece or new campaign.


2. Not drilling down far enough when audience targeting.


3. Not researching what others in your field of expertise are doing with their marketing efforts so you know what you are up against and can make sure that you beat them.


4. Not asking enough times for your readers and viewers to call you, email you, text message you… You do want them to HIRE YOU, right? You should be putting your contact information in their faces constantly. Yes, ask for your audience’s business at the start of and in the middle, not just at the end of your videos, articles and posts.


5. Not reacting FAST to negative publicity. When someone gives your Realtor Services a poor business review or less than a five star rating, you have to react quickly to manage the damage! Ignoring a rude comment on one of your posts will not make it go away. You have to immediately respond. Be polite but refute strongly! Rebut and disprove any negative claims being made about you!


6. Not getting opinions on your works BEFORE you load them online. Some post that you feel are exciting others are not as thrilled about. You do NOT want to be known for being BORING! Ask a friend or your boss what they think about your online post before you load it for the whole world to see. Maybe they will have a suggestion or find a word spelled wrong that will save you some embarrassment.


7. The BIGGEST Marketing Mistake REALTORS MAKE when doing their own promoting and advertising is giving up on their great idea after it does not work perfectly or as well as expected the first-time publishing it.


Pro-Marketers know that the great marketing ideas have to be hammered out. Do not quit yet!


If you have a bad ad or promotion launch, figure out why things went wrong. Why didn't the audience respond? If you had an alright debut or first showing, get to work on assuring the next showing is going to be much better.


You have to make or develop your marketing ideas into champions!


Try then improve, then retry then improve some more, until you get your Marketing piece working so great that your competition is scared of it!


Lots of the best performing ads and promotional stunts were flops on their first showing. Their creators did not give up on their original conception. They reworked the idea and made it into a WINNER!
