Every Local Realtor Needs a Good Business Plan
Winning, in as competitive a career as Real Estate Consultant, requires discipline, focus and attention to details.

Most careers, real estate especially, require you to compete hard if you are hoping to climb the corporate ladder to achieve success.
Every winner faces down hardships. Realtors have a rough daily grind. We work for commission. We must talk people into agreeing that our commission is worth paying.
Properties take time to sell and rent. Cash flow gets limited but a Realtor's bills still have to be paid.
Realtors are sales people and client psychiatrists too. We are competing with investment software and AI, artificial Intelligence bots.

Your friends are probably telling you all about their great jobs working from home. They sleep half the morning away before starting to toil at work while still in their pajamas. They tap away on a keyboard into the late afternoon before bathing or brushing their hair.
You are a Realtor and thus must get out into the neighborhoods and see the people you wish to work for.
The rewards though could be fantastic for you but you need to find prospects and client leads that actually turn into paying Real Estate Clients.
I know you became a Real Estate Agent because you wanted your independence and less bosses looking over your shoulder. You heard that Realtors can run their own show and that Brokers will let you do it just about anyway you wish to try. That is all still true.
But you have to learn to embrace the help of others if you are going to become Top Agent. Your firm's owner and office manager have knowledge and connections that can help you. They want to help you! Many other local pros wish to help you too.
Real Estate is about helping people find homes and business properties to lease or buy. You will be talking to lots of folks, negotiating all sorts of things, haggling over prices, leaving phone messages and returning calls, texting...
What I am trying to say is that a Realtor is a people person first and foremost.
If you do not like communicating with all sorts of people then a career as a Real Estate Agent is not for you.
Successful Realtors pick people's brains constantly. We rely on people in the communities we service to give us leads and keep us informed as to what is going on in their neighborhoods.
Properties come in all shapes, sizes and personalities too. That means no Realtor knows everything there is to know about all kinds of properties. Bust you must know about each of the neighborhoods you give advice about moving into.

Realtors have to create a mindset that is expecting market shifts. We need to prepare, yes in advance, for various possibilities that could happen. We need to know how we will advise if something happens in our consulting territory, not start scrambling for solutions after some shift actually happens.
The key to being able to adapt quickly to changes in a Local Real Estate Market without panicking comes from figuring out all that could happen then practicing for each scenario. Only if you design answers for all possibilities and rehearse for each, can you rest easy knowing you will know what to do when the time comes, without being caught by surprise.
Create plans not just for bad turns in the market but make sure you and your clients are ready to pounce when opportunities suddenly appear.
